I did these photographs on Holly Friday during the «Procesión del SIlencio (Silent procession) in Oaxaca Mexico. Year by year since 1986 thousands of people gathers around to Sangre de Cristo church to eyewitness this tradition that takes part along the main streets of downtown Oaxaca.
Each church is represented by a holy figure carried by the faithful. Banners, on heavy standards, are part of the procession, as well as crosses carried by others. Unlike almost everything else in Mexico, the procession is actually mostly silent.
