What is this project about?

As human beings, we can sense quite quickly the things that happen around us, some of us pause to take a closer look into the details a pay attention to the relationship that makes a place or a moment turn into an emotional memory strong enough that we’ll keep in our minds and make it last long.

Today, a large group of people with artistic sensibility use to represent our memories through photography, that’s why I consider that we are all artists in a certain way when we can make a difference between looking and watching when taking photos. It counts a lot the intention you have when working on your photographs and creating art, with the relation of these two things is how I got the idea of working with an element that we can easily recognize and find very often while traveling anywhere, it’s the red dot that points out a geographical location on a map. This red dot is the binding resource that links my intention to capture those moments that once you think of them will take you to a series of memories and emotions. This is how this project was created, a mix of graphics and emotional work with intervened landscapes trying to show the way we give a sense of belonging to those places we visit, and we retain mentally as memories even when we are not there anymore, but we feel like we own them. I named this project ‘YOU ARE NOT HERE’  as a way to recall those places with a sensory, physical, and emotional connection, there are no people in the images only the red dot that allows us to remember a place only by its emotional value and not for who was there, those are very personal instants when we remember the place for what it is and what we lived there.

I started this project in June during holidays in Iceland, a country with outstanding scenarios that I considered ideal to place this red plastic ball, later on, I had the chance to continue it in Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico. Actually, this is the 1st part of this project that I pretend to keep growing in new places that I would like to own and keep in my mind in a near future once I’ll not be there anymore.
